Cardo – Scala Rider Q2 Review
We recently bought the Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Headset so we can talk to one an other while we ride our quad bikes, and man, is it great to talk to one an other while you ride! We first saw the Scala Rider Q2 when we were taking our rider safety course in Prairie City, CA. The instructors had them and said they worked great! Since then, we wanted to have a pair – but they weren’t cheap ($250.00 for the team set of two), so we waited. We now have had them for two ATV trips and they are fantastic. You can talk hands free for up to eight hours. The distance you can talk is about 1/4 of a mile, as long as there are absolutely no obstacles in the way. Any obstacle creates some static but as long as it is open between you and the other rider it is as clear as a bell. In the two rides we have used them the clearness of the talking to each other was about 90% of the time. Only around corners did we have any static. The unit clamps to your helmet and the two speakers have a Velcro strip that sticks in the ear openings in your helmet pads. They are Blue Tooth so they connect to your cell phone automatically if you have an incoming call. They also play your MP3 players music. If you want a longer range of over one mile I’d suggest the Scala Rider Q4, which might be what you are looking for.
I rate this Scala Rider Q2 Headset as four thumbs up out of five - and 4 just because of the little bit of static around corners.
Happy Riding!
